i hate packing. it has been a daunting task, awaiting me for the past few days and tonight i finally began the process. i always bring home too much, and yet somehow still manage to forget a few key things. due to this unfortunate history, i now stress out over it, to the point where i can’t sleep, hence my being awake at 1 AM. someone come pack for me? i’ll pay you in adoration.

this is a little late going up, but a couple weeks ago we celebrated hunter’s birthday. it was a joy to be able to celebrate this man who brings joy to my life everyday. first we went to chop steakhouse, because hunter loves steak and due to the fact that he is engaged to me, he basically never gets to eat it. therefore i thought it would be nice to take him for a real good steak. if you know us at all, you know that it is not a celebration without ice cream, so afterwards we hit up marble slab for some treats.
i’m excited to celebrate many more birthdays with you, mr. gillis.

this weekend was a whirlwind of birthday parties. there was a birthday party every day that i was home! friday night dads 50th, saturday was crystal’s 24th and sunday was Gram’s 80th. it was such a blessing to be there to celebrate with my friends and fam! the weekend also consisted of easter egg hunts, family dinners, coffee dates, and an amazing easter production put on by my home church in calgary! i also got to meet my cousin sandra’s sweet little baby, and i got to spend lots of time with my parents and my sisters which i always love. i never get to see everyone that i want to, but for a three day visit i think i did pretty darn good.
every time i go home i am reminded of how amazing my family is. it makes it hard to come back to school. only a month to go!
spring in edmonton has greeted us with about 2 feet of snow. as you can imagine most of us are thrilled…the second photo captures our true emotions.

i finally took the plunge! i haven’t died my hair since i was seventeen and i have been wanting to jump on the ombré bandwagon for a while now, but i have been a chicken. today i had a burst of courage so i went out and did it and i am in love! now i just need summer weather to go with my summer locks.

this is where i lived for the weekend. a cute little cabin at camp nakamun with a group of senior high girls. we had a youth retreat and God absolutely blew my mind. i was so blessed to see the lives of young people touched by the love of God. we saw freedom from burdens and students encountered God for the first time. it was beautiful. i really can’t think of anything better than seeing students come to know Jesus and witnessing them grow in their walk with Him. my heart is full.

last night we made butternut squash thai curry soup. it was soooo good. hunter is somewhat of a cooking entrepreneur, and he is amazing. somehow everything he makes, even if he is completely winging it, is awesome. it inspires me because my cooking skills are pretty limited. he is slowly teaching me his skills…maybe by the time we get married i will be prepared to cook for him everyday. maybe.
