here’s a couple of our favs from our engagement shoot!
today is not about supporting or not supporting war. it is about recognizing the cost of the freedom that we now have as canadians. people sacrificed their lives so that we could live in a country like this one. those people deserve to be remembered, and honoured by all who enjoy that freedom. //

no poo…wait what?
SO, ever since i jumped on the ombre bandwagon i have struggled HARD with tangly hard to manage locks. after the bleach my hair came out pretty weak and damaged and the tangles make it so that it breaks of easily. basically i have had to baby the heck out of it, and it takes me a century to brush through the tangles (though it probably doesn’t help that i barely ever brush it).
ANYWAYS, i am a low maintenance person, and when it comes to my hair i like to wash it and go. So i’ve been in the search of a solution. I have tried a few deep conditioners (Its a 10 is my fav) and they have worked pretty well, but all left my hair feeling really weighed down, which i also don’t like.
A few weeks ago i stumbled upon this “no poo” or “water-only” washing. Before you think i’m gross, here me out. Keep in mind i am no expert on this, but this is a summary of what i have learned. Your skin/scalp produce a bunch of oils, hence why your hair gets greasy, but not all these oils are bad. There is a natural oil called sebum that your skin produces and it is what keeps your hair soft and healthy. So you see, shampoo is great because it gets rid of all the dirty gross oils in your hair, but it also strips your hair of the good oils, which is why we need conditioner to re-moisturize what the shampoo just sucked dry. It is like a vicious cycle.
So essentially, i have been boycotting the whole shampoo and conditioner thing. I only washed my hair once or twice a week anyways, so the adjustment hasn’t been too bad. i’m on week three now, and after a few days here and there of toque-requiring-greasyness …MAN my hair has volume like you wouldn’t believe! And it doesn’t feel or look greasy!
I definitely don’t have that light fluffy just washed feel, but to be honest i’ve always like my hair better on the third day or so. The only thing I am still struggling with is keeping my blonde toned. Other than that one thing, i am loving this. Anyone else out there part of the “no poo” club?
So, this is happening.
Yesterday I came to the realization that Hunter and I’s engagement is half over. When we first got engaged it seemed as if a year and half engagement might as well be a century. Everyone said it would go by fast, but to me that didn’t seem possible. And yet, here I am with only mere months to go until I get to marry the person who means more to me than anyone in the world, and I can’t believe how fast time is going. After five years of dating this reality seems nothing short of surreal. I can’t wait to be your wife, Hunter.
On a completely unrelated note…here is a photo of Hunts with my Nonno and Nonna because their height difference is hilarious.
